Our challenges
From our earliest days, we’ve had a vision of being a force for good, improving our industry and creating new standards for ourselves and others.
This means sharing our values, vision, and ambition, as well as our expectations for the companies and families we work with.
Challenge 1:
Culture
We know that to make a difference, we need a positive, like-minded team of uniquely skilled craftspeople. People-first is a term often used, but for us, it’s a crucial part of our approach. Consisitent collaboration and investiment are key ingredients which allows us all to grow as a team. The passing on of knowledge is as old as time but often not shared so openly. Regular team talks and an encouragement to work with trades outside of your own, helps build a solid base and understanding of the build prosess ahead.
Challenge 2:
Environment
Sadly, the construction industry is better known for its destructive nature. To counter this, we’ve engineered a solution that moves away from the industry’s linear approach to materials, to instead create something circular.
2nd Cycle is an eBay-style platform designed specifically for the construction industry. It allows us to change the narrative and describe waste as a resource, advertising it as free to collect to community groups, charities and members of the public. This benefits us all: it liberates material from skips, cuts expensive waste costs, reduces landfill, and lowers the industry’s carbon footprint. Importantly, it also provides local groups and organisations with materials for projects and small builds. This is just the beginning, but we have countless examples.
